End of Training

Today we complete our three days training which include about nine Tanzania veteran journos for the purpose of learning how to work with internet.

The internet investigative journalism training was conducted by Finnish Foundation for Media and Development (VIKES) of Finland with collaboration with MISA-Tan.

My expectations became fruitful because I got more knowledge of using internet particularly to investigate stories through internet and how to create blog.

I expectation to MISA-Tan with the collaboration with VIKES to develop this training in order to train even ordinary journos in Tanzania.

Dropped out of school is not end of learning

Phiona was about nine when dropped out of school due to her family could not afford to send her , therefore it forced her joine a chess program run by the Sports Outreach Institute in Uganda, which taught her how to play chess.^,  She was born 1993  and grew up in the Ugandan slum of Katwe.

In 2010 she played six rounds on board 2 and one round on board one for Uganda at the 39^th chess OLympiada, because of her effort on learning  to play chess she was a three-time Women's Junior Champion of Uganda.

Result of her performances many games of Olympiada played, making her  to be  first titled female player in Ugandan chess history.  Also Mutesi played against Lutaaya Shafiq Holmes of  Makerere University  who she beat became the first female player to win the open category of the National Junior Chess Championship in Uganda.

 According to the World Chess Federation Mutesa is currently the 171,364 ranked players in the world.

Mutesa from Chess champion who competes internationally, now being turned into a Hollywood film actress.

Mutesa said like chess because it involves planning, and if you don’t plan, you will end up with a bad life. This is her motto

Smart Kigali

In Kigali Rwanda launched the Smart Kigali initiative. This initiative is aimed at modernizing the lifestyle of Kigali City dwellers and visitors through use of ICT for better service delivery.

It is aimed at provision of free broadband Wi-Fi Internet access in public places that include commercial buildings, Bus Stations, Airport, in public transport buses and cabs; Improving Internet connectivity and access in Hotels and restaurants; establishing online automated navigation system for direction using the newly implemented street and home addressing information system; Introducing automated ticketing and taxi meters in public transport; and electronic payments systems to improve financial services.

This initiative which will contribute in delivering better services; with high speed internet connection, will be a basic need for everyone where people can be able to access information anytime and this will speed up the country’s development where citizens can also get various services online.

The high speed internet connection and easy access will also make the visitors’ experience in Kigali more enjoyable with, free Wi-Fi in public places  and will be provided at Union Trade Center, Kigali City Tower, Kigali City Market, MTN Center, Nyabugogo Bus Park, Remera-Kisementi, Stade Amahoro, Kigali Public Library, Kanombe International Airport, KBC, Kacyiru Ministere, KIST and KIE. Internet connectivity at these sites will be powered by BSC Ltd, MTN Rwanda, TIGO Rwanda Ltd, AIRTEL, LIQUID Telecom and ISPA.

Second day of training

Today training was very interesting, our instructor took me a place where I expected to be. He trained me how to find out sources of information in internet like the fourth highest mountain in Tanzania and others. Obama's phone number. I realized that  most of us and  our reporter in news room we are not using sources of information through Internets.
My today assignment was fantastic. Its gain my knowledge and skill on how to make research through internet. I realized that in internet there are a lot of material to write  for our media for example issue of precision air how comes be bankrupt.  

First day of training

In our first day of the course we learn how to create blog and how to.  Blog is very simply way of publishing stories and other publications very efficient and quickly. Mostly I like how to find stories through google search engine by using different sources of web sides.
Also I learn  definitions of investigative internet journalism.

How to be internet investigator journalist

My name is Othman Maaalim. I'm working with Zanzibar Press Club as Journalist. In this week I'm in Dar es Salaam learning investigative internet journalism.
After finishing my training I expect to get more skill and knowledge on how to be good internet  investigator journalist. Also to know how can to create blog in order to work with internet efficiently.
